06/01/10: New England Home Care is proud to announce its support and participation in Relay For Life, The American Cancer Society's signature fundraising nationwide event on June 5, 2010 at Crosby High School, 300 Pierpont Road, Waterbury, CT. Last year team "Walk With Joy" raised $7,000.00 and have currently raised $1,400.00. Let's together support the team and fight cancer. To join the "Walk With Joy" team, please logon to the "Walk With Joy" website.
The "Walk With Joy 2010" team (21 members) raised a total of $5,000.00 this year. The theme this year was "Birthday" so the team celebrated the concepts of birthday and life. Touching moments were shared throughout the entire event.

03/01/10: March is National Professional Social Work Month! There are people who go above and beyond their usual work to make a significant difference in the lives of thousands. These advocates can come from every discipline, but many times they are social workers. The theme for this year's celebration is "Social Wokers Inspire Community Action."
02/01/10: February is American Heart Month! Heart Disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. It affects nearly 800,000 Americans every year. Knowing the signs of a heart attack ahead of time, can help save your life. Signs include pain in the chest, arm, back, jaw, or neck, shortness of breath, breaking out in a cold sweat or nausea.
Medicare provides coverage for cardiovascular screening blood tests, ultrasound screening for abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA), and smoking and tobacco-use cessation counseling for qualified beneficiaries.
Risk factors can increase your chances if developing heart problems, including a family history of heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity and tobacco use.
February 5, 2010 is "Wear Red Day!" It's an effort to spread awareness about the dangers of heart disease.

Relay For Life is a life-changing event that brings together more than 3.5 million people to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer and to remember loved ones who have lost the battle. Relay for Life offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer by forming walking teams. News Event 5/13/09 - The Shelton office of New England Home Care proudly announces Sue Mazzarella, RN as the recipient of this year's Florence Nightingale Award. Sue Mazzarella is a clinical supervisor that brings to the profession so much more than her expertise and professionalism. Although the position of supervisor includes mentoring nurses, trouble shooting clinical situations, supporting nurses in the field, and oversight of the plan of care and although most supervisors would acknowledge that to be their role, Sue carries out this role in ways that are unique. Judy exemplifies the true spirit of nursing professionalism in her daily practice as a Behavioral Health RN. She has been a dedicated employee of New England Home Care for the past fifteen years and draws on her experience in the field to mentor other nurses. She is an extremely passionate patient advocate while also fostering independence within the behavioral health population. She treats the "whole" patient meeting their medical as well as their psychiatric needs.
